Kingsley Roofing London secured and completed the prestigious Old Great Scotland Yard project in the centre of London for Galliard Homes in 2019. The renovation of the iconic building into a high-end five-star hotel, included the renewal of the flat and slate pitched roofs, including green roofs and balconies. The project lasted eleven months and was valued at around £800,000.
The works included the full strip and the renewal of the flat roofs, to a fully insulated built up roof system. Once the waterproofing was completed, a green roof system was installed, with local horticultural species and ballasted perimeters.
We were also asked to complete all of the waterproofing upgrades to all of the balcony areas with the use of a cold-applied liquid solution, including vapour control layers and insulation.
All slate roofs were then stripped and a full refurbishment commenced, including the installation of random slate. This meant the individual sizing of all of the slates prior to works being complete for a more natural look.
The final element to the works included code 6/7 lead works to all of the dormers and capping details to the already listed building.
The project posed many challenges, including some bespoke design elements that Kingsley Roofing were happy to help with and some of which were industry firsts.Incredibly busy working areas, restricted deliveries and phasing issues meant it was a challenging project however it was completed on time and within budget. The finished product is one that we are very proud of.
